Definitions


There are certain terms that you will hear repeatedly, either in the field of psychic development or during the course of a consultation. Clearly understanding these terms can help enrich your experience.


Affirmation:

A positive statement used to change or replace negative thinking. It is a tool for manifestation and is always phrased in the present tense. Affirmations can be crafted to deal with any issue: relationships, weight-loss and more. They are extremely effective in changing habits and/or lifestyles.


Karma:

A Sanskrit word, the root of which means "to do." In spiritual terms, Karma is any lesson or circumstance (positive or negative) that is the direct result of your own actions, including those of previous lifetimes. The Law of Karma is sometimes referred to as the Law of Cause and Effect. The term is often erroneously used interchangeably with fate or destiny.  The term is also used in pop culture to mean retribution or someone "getting what's coming to them."


Meditation:

Any process of relaxation which facilitates contact with your Higher Self and creates balance between your physical, emotional and mental states. There are various methods of meditation, including prayer. The practice helps to lower stress and reduce anger and anxiety.


Miracle:

An event that seems impossible under the rules of natural law. This is connected to the thought that there is no such thing as coincidence.


Reiki:

A method of healing using universal life energy founded in Japan and based on the teachings of founder Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki is one of the few forms of spiritual healing whose practitioner charge for treatments.


Visualization:

The technique of mentally imagining a specific image or series of images in order to achieve a specific result. It is often used during meditation, magical practice or as a tool with affirmations and goal setting.


Soul mate:

In spiritual terms, the soul who is repeatedly your primary partner in earthy incarnations. A soul mate is not always a romantic relationship, but may, in fact, also be a parent, a child, a friend or a sibling. In pop culture, it is often used to refer to the person who is your perfect partner in this lifetime.
